The final slice of the West End Project

Sweet success as the Association celebrates achievements of the West End Transformation Project

The end of West End Project was celebrated in style with a landscape team being presented with a delicious themed cake. The cake, created by our own specialist in house pastry chef was prepared to mark the occasion featuring a scene from an improved back court.

The project formed part of the Association delivering its Environmental Strategy where the focus is on improving the external environment of our homes. Focusing initially on the West End  21 back courts were improved from having new paving installed to meet the challenges of additional bins to newly landscaped back courts there was a variety for work undertaken. The project developed a team of apprentices to deliver the project providing valuable training and skills to a group of four apprentices.

As Chris Turner, the Project Supervisor tucked into a second slice of cake he advised “It is impressive that the team delivered as many improvements in only 11 months, this demonstrates their commitment and the experience and learning will serve the apprentices in good stead as they move into their next positions”

The project was part funded by the Scottish Government and the European Union. Environmental improvement will be rolled out in other areas over the next 5 years.
